Program Note: “Salem, Connecticut” was commissioned by Kit Bingham in memory of his niece, Sylvia Bingham (1987-2009). Sylvia was a talented poet, a social activist, a graduate of Yale University, and a recipient of an AmeriCorps Fellowship. She was killed by a drunk truck driver on September 15, 2009 while riding a bicycle in Cleveland, Ohio. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sylvia Bingham Fund (sylviabinghamfund.org).
